NTT DATA Earns Prominent Spot on 2012 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across America

NTT DATA, Inc.’s social gamification initiative increases employee productivity and collaboration

12 Sep, 2012

Monarch Beach, CA, September 12, 2012 – NTT DATA, Inc., a leading IT services provider, today announced that it ranked 206 on this year’s InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology. NTT DATA, Inc. was recognized for its use of social gamification in its collaboration platform for employees.  This year marks the seventh consecutive year NTT DATA, Inc. (formerly listed as Keane, Inc.) has made this prestigious list. The annual list was revealed last night at a gala awards ceremony at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference which took place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point, CA.

“Gamification is a powerfully effective tool that is helping us engage and motivate our employees, and drive value for our customers with things like new product development,” said Imran Sayeed, Chief Technology Officer of NTT DATA, Inc. “Most organizations have workspaces for employees to post content unrelated to client projects. These workspaces increase in size and number, yet provide little business value. In the less formal environment of our ‘Socially’ platform, employees from around the world are more naturally launching into engaging discussions, sharing resources, and recommending content.”

NTT DATA, Inc.’s collaboration platform, called Socially, is an online community that connects developers from every one of the 35 countries served by the company, promoting expertise sharing through contests, karma points and other fun incentives. Socially has grown in the past year to over 4,370 users, 258 groups, and generated 180,000 pieces of unique content. Equally important, new solutions and services directly benefiting customers continue to be developed utilizing this collaborative tool.

“The InformationWeek 500 has recognized the most innovative users of business technology for 24 years, and this year’s innovations were particularly impressive,” said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. “What the editors looked for are unconventional approaches—new technologies, new models, new ways of grabbing business opportunities and solving complex business problems with IT.”

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Past overall winners include PACCAR Inc., The Vanguard Group, CME Group, National Semiconductor, Con-Way, and Principal Financial Group. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
